Accelerate the innovation of engineering
from complexity to capability
From complexity… to capability… to competitiveness. As systems grow in complexity, organisations must develop new engineering capabilities to design, build and operate them effectively. That is how we accelerate innovation together. We invite you to join us at the ESI Symposium 2027, a milestone edition celebrating 25 years of TNO-ESI, taking place on Tuesday 13 April 2027 at the Parktheater Eindhoven.
This well-established symposium, held every 18 months, brings together industry professionals and academic researchers working at the forefront of systems engineering addressing challenges arising from technological disruptions such as Generative AI (GenAI). It offers a unique opportunity to connect, exchange insights and look ahead to the next era of engineering innovation.
Europe is at a turning point. Competitiveness depends on our ability to build strategic capabilities and to innovate faster and more efficiently. Systems and Software Engineering are key enablers of this transformation. New methodologies allow us not only to manage complexity but to harness it, enabling faster and more effective system development while strengthening organisational engineering capabilities. As systems grow in complexity, building these capabilities is essential if Europe is to remain competitive in an increasingly dynamic global landscape.
AI is accelerating this shift, enhancing how we design, decide and collaborate. Building on our strong roots in the high-tech industry, we now apply our expertise across domains such as defence and the energy transition, where complexity is high and impact is critical. This is how we move forward: from complexity to capability, and from capability to competitiveness.
We are currently putting together an inspiring programme featuring leading speakers from our network.
